കെ-ഡിസ്‌ക് വിഭാവനം ചെയ്ത ജീനോം ഡാറ്റാ സെന്റര്‍ (Kerala Genome Data Centre), മൈക്രോബയോം മികവിന്റെ കേന്ദ്രം (Microbiome Centre of Excellence) എന്നീ പദ്ധതികള്‍ കേരളത്തിന്റെ ആരോഗ്യമേഖലയില്‍ വന്‍മുന്നേറ്റത്തിന് വഴിയൊരുക്കുമെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയന്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.
രോഗ പ്രതിരോധത്തിനും ചികിത്സ ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്നതിനും പുതിയ ചികിത്സാ രീതികള്‍ അവലംബിക്കുന്നതിനുമുള്ള സാധ്യത തുറന്നു തരുന്ന ശാസ്ത്ര മേഖലയാണ് ജീനോമിക്‌സ്. മെഡിക്കല്‍ ഗവേഷണത്തിലും പരിശീലനത്തിനുമുള്ള സാമ്പ്രദായിക സമീപനങ്ങളെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതോടൊപ്പം വരും കാല ചികിത്സാ രീതികള്‍ മുന്‍കൂട്ടി കണ്ട് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതിനും ജീനോമിക്‌സ് സഹായകമാകും. അതിനുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക്ശക്തി പകരാൻ കേരള ജീനോം ഡാറ്റാ സെന്റര്‍ യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യമാകുന്നതോടെ കേരളത്തിന് സാധിക്കും.
