ഏഴ് പേരും അവരുടെ കൈയിലെ കാശിന് അനുസരിച്ച് പപ്പടം ഉണ്ടാക്കാനുള്ള സാധനങ്ങള്‍ വാങ്ങുക. ഒരാള്‍ ഉഴുന്ന് വാങ്ങി. മറ്റൊരാള്‍ കുരുമുളക്. വേറൊരാള്‍ കായം, പിന്നെയൊരാള്‍ മസാലകള്‍ അങ്ങനെ ഏഴ് പേരും ഓരോന്ന്. ഇതെല്ലാം ചേര്‍ത്തവര്‍ പപ്പടത്തിനുള്ള മാവ് തയ്യാറാക്കി. അത് ഉരുട്ടി പരത്തി ഉണക്കി പപ്പടമാക്കി വിറ്റു.
നാല് പായ്ക്കറ്റ് പപ്പടമാണ് അന്ന് അവര്‍ക്ക് വില്‍ക്കാന്‍ സാധിച്ചത്. അതിന് ലാഭമായി കിട്ടിയത് എട്ട് അണയും (അതായത് ഇന്നത്തെ 50 പൈസ). പിറ്റേന്ന് അവര്‍ ഇരട്ടി സാധനങ്ങള്‍ വാങ്ങി എട്ട് പായ്ക്കറ്റുണ്ടാക്കി വിറ്റു.
ഈ ഏഴ് പേര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം അയല്‍വാസികളായ കൂടുതല്‍ സ്ത്രീകളും പിന്നീട് ചേര്‍ന്നു. മൂന്നുമാസം കൊണ്ട് പപ്പട കൂട്ടായ്മയിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ എണ്ണം 200 ആയി. സമീപ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ഇത് വ്യാപിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് മറ്റ് സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലേക്കും. ഇന്ന് ഈ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തെ ഇന്ത്യയിലെമ്പാടും അറിയും. രാജ്യാന്തര തലത്തിലും.
